Designers seems to want to revisit the 1950s fantasy for men this spring. One quintessential style from the so-called "age of innocence" is the short-sleeved button up with rolled sleeves. Lanvin, Dunhill, Richard Chai, and Ralph Lauren each sent their version of this style down the runway. This trend appears with tailoring that ranges from rumpled and slouchy to crisp and tight-fitting. It's an easy one to imitate by modifying what you probably already have in your closet.

The fedora is a classic mens style and it was popular in the 1950s, but hipsters started wearing it with a shrunken brim. This style was seen complimenting clothing from Iceberg, Etro, Junya Watanabe and Moschino. The hats were often crafted in straw and other such light materials that work well for spring.

When wearing retro styles sometimes the best way to avoid looking costumed is to stick to vintage-inspired accessories and shoes are a great place to start. Two-toned oxfords and saddle shoes were very popular in the 50s. Sixty years later the style has made a comeback in designer fashion. Saddle shoes from Moschino match the fun flair of floral pants; and oxfords from Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, and Salvatore Ferregamo make the retro style look modern and sophisticated.

Ultimately, the 50s vibe for spring 2010 is less about the individual garments and more about how you style your clothing. To perfect this look go for boxy fit on top and slim fit on the bottom. Top it off with thick rimmed glasses and a slick hairdo and you’re all set!
