Pants Styles Fall Winter 2010 - 2011
Menswear 2010 is giving fashion-loving gentlemen everywhere plenty of options to get creative with their wardrobes. Some styles are leaning on the past, while others are charging into the future. The following styles of pants will let you go beyond the basics to add a cutting edge touch to your style. There's a sporting element present in many facets of fashion for 2010. From American football, to skiing, to equestrian pursuits, garments normally worn for sport are finding their way into everyday fashion. One iteration of this trend is in the appearance of paneled pants. These reflect pants see worn for riding horses or motorcycles. Dolce & Gabbana made a subtle pair and coupled it with an ultra classic sport jacket; Etro's green and gray pair are for a man that's not afraid of a little color; and Versace's slick patent panels would look great on a bike, but they're probably more likely to be worn in a limo.

Pleats fell out of favor with the fashion set for quite some time. For years they were a dead giveaway for someone out of touch, which could be spotted at one hundreds yards. In truth, they can be tough to wear, as they will add bulk to any frame and especially those that carry a few extra pounds. Perhaps that's why they went out of fashion in the first place? At any rate, they're back. Like it or not, they are trendy enough that they will found not just in designer fashion, but in mass market and department stores as well. The best approach to wearing pleats is to keep everything else tucked and tailored. That way your pleated pants will look like a sharp style choice and not a sloppy mess. As we start a new decade, fashion looks back to previous ones for inspiration. This year it's the '70s and '90s we see reflected in contemporary fashion. Accordingly, plaid has made a big comeback - especially in pants. The '70s plaid was generally a smaller print in multiple colors, while '90s plaid tended more toward a check pattern in just two colors. Feel free to mix plaids or try pairing with stripes. Otherwise, play it safe and wear plain white, gray or black tees with plaid pants. The examples here also evoke a grunge undertone, which is another 2010 trend.
