Mens Hairstyles 2010

The overarching theme for mens hairstyles 2010 can be summed in one word: Slick. It might be easy to forget at times, but grooming is a big part of fashion.

Along with clothing and accessories, hair styles from the 1950s are very much is fashion. The most recognizable style from this time period is the pompadour. This style requires plenty of hair product to achieve and hold volume on top of the head. Elvis Presley is one of the ultimate icons of the 1950s. He ushered in trends in music and many flocked to imitate his style. Models on the Gucci runway had their hair pumped up to pompadour standards with plenty of shine and volume. Fashionable attendees at fashion week in Europe also echoed this style, with hair and glasses to match.

After years of loose flyaway hair and shaggy style for Men, anything perfectly placed seems to have a retro appeal. Mens hairstyles 2010 has strong emphasis on parting hair to one side for an intentionally groomed look. Runway models for Burberry Prorsum sported hair with easy parts, which might look tousled but is styled with product to keep it in place. Missoni's men had freshly washed look that's a bit more on the beachy side but still maintains a perfect part. The models at Paul Smith wore precise parts that were heavily slicked to create a '50s schoolboy look.

When all else fails, feel free to simply take a dollop of pomade or gel and just slick your hair straight back. This has to be one of the easiest style to complete and yet it's still very much on trend this season. This black & white image from the Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2010 lookbook is perfect example of this style. Richard Chai's runway model sports the look too, though in a way that's a bit messier. The model backstage at the Damir Doma show might have two sets of hands getting him ready, but it's not really that hard! All you really need is a bit of hair product and a comb to pull that hair back from your face for a nice finish.
