Can We Match Khaki Pants with Black Shoes?
Question:Recently we went out to a casual dinner with friends. My husband was wearing a polo shirt that was mostly black but had some colors that included khaki in it so he wore it with khaki pants, black belt, black shoes. He was told that he should have worn a brown belt and brown shoes because of the khaki pants. The shirt didn't have brown in it! They said that you wear brown shoes with khaki pants not black! I always knew and your website confirmed that you match belt with shoes. i.e. brown belt, brown shoes; black belt, black shoes. But do you always wear brown with khaki no matter what? Answer:I agree and yet disagree with your friend's comment about khaki and black shoes. I think khaki and black shoes can match especially when it is worn for the night and when the polo shirt is black. (I have attached some pictures that shows men wearing khaki pants with black shoes).
However, I also agree that it is not the best looking. Generally wearing brown shoes gives a much better contrast which is more soothing against the brownish tone of khakis. Black shoes are too strong against the khaki color. Take a look at the pictures showing men wearing khaki colored pants with brown. They look a lot better than those wearing black. The brown shoes also heightens the stylishness compared to black.
There are other colors that I like to wear with khaki too, like white and purple. You might find purple weird at first but it gives a splendid contrast and is indeed very trendy especially if you match with clothing or accessories with purple hue. White shoes with khaki gives a very young feel. Men who are older looks a lot younger wearing white shoes with khaki.
