Jacket Styles Fall Winter 2010 - 11
When you're trying to improve your style profile one of the best investments you can make is in your outerwear. This because you can wear your coats and jackets repeatedly - even everyday - without people giving you any strange glances. A nice jacket can make plain jeans and a t-shirt look very stylish. Accordingly, you should always be sure to have a sharp jacket to polish off your wardrobe. Bomber Jackets For Fall/Winter 2010-11 bomber jackets - more generally called "flight" jackets - are an explosive trend. This is one that was so pervasive on designer runways that it's sure to be found easily and at any price point. At its core, this style is very masculine, as it's inspired by the uniforms of early 19th century fighter pilots. There's an inherent ruggedness in the bomber jacket, but each designer puts his or her own spin on the style, and some of these jackets turn out very upscale and refined. Fur-Trimmed Fur is often more closely associated with women's fashion. For 2010, however, men's styles are markedly more opulent then they have been in recent years, and adding fur to the mix is right in line. Some designers sent their male models down the runway in full fur get-ups, but more often jackets and coats were simply adorned with some fur trim here and there. The most common treatment of this was a fur collar. It's useful to consider, too, that wearing fur can be controversial. Going the route of wearing fur on just the collar might help you avoid any uncomfortable accusations of political incorrectness. Left to Right: Roberto Cavalli, John Richmond, Ermanno Servino

Puffy Jackets The lines between dress and casual wear gets more and more blurred by the year. Likewise, puffy jackets aren’t just for sporty occasions anymore. For 2010 feel free to pair this full volume, quilted style with everything from jeans, to slacks, and even dress pants. This is great news if you've got a limited budget, but need to wear your jacket for a variety of occasions. If you're wearing it often, however, stick to a darker color that won't show dirt as well. Puffy jackets are another style that will be easily found at stores from mass market chains all the up to luxury designer boutiques. Left to Right: Gaspard Yurkievich, Louis Vuitton, Balmain
