Totally in Gray for Fall Winter 2010 - 11
If you're the type of man that has trouble getting the colors of your wardrobe right, you're in luck. For Fall/Winter 2010-11 a nice neutral grey is a huge trend. And the color's not just being used as a backdrop for other hues. Rather, fashion-forward men are drenching themselves in grey from head-to-toe, making it easy for the slightly (or seriously) style-challenged man to piece together stylish ensembles. One way to do the all-over grey trend is to pair your suits with a grey shirt and tie. This creates a look that’s one part business and one part fashion. One might stand out in a boardroom, but for good reasons! This is a way to show off your creative side, while still being office sharp. From left to right: Les Hommes, Dior, Ermenegildo Zegna

Loosen up even more by wearing your grey suit with a turtleneck instead of shirt and tie. This is definitely a more leisurely look and works best for those with creative jobs and the freedom to take risks with their wardrobe. This style also speaks to the ‘70s revival trend, which is seen in men’s fashion for Fall 2010. From left to right: Costume National, Z Zegna, Dunhill.

Neutral tones like grey have always been popular choices for outwear because your coats and jackets have the burden of having to match everything else in your wardrobe. This can make them seem a bit dull. However, pair your grey coat with an all grey outfit to achieve standout style. Note that you can stick to one tone of grey throughout or play with different shades, which still achieves the trend, but give your look some added dimension. When you’re trying a monochromatic look, it’s important to add texture to make sure you don’t end up looking flat. Adding a scarf is a nice and easy way to add some interest to your head-to-toe grey. Alexis Mabille does this trick by encircling the neck in a scarf made of thin material; D&G uses a thick winter scarf to add both warmth and style to a sporty ensemble; and Damir Doma simply ties a lightweight sweater around the neck in a manner that is common in Europe.
