Fashion Advice 9: Suits for Summer Wedding
Fashion Advice 9
Question:
I am attending a very formal evening wedding in Austin, Texas at an Episcopalian Church in July this summer. The weather will be very very hot and muggy.
What kind and color of suit is recommended?
What pattern of tie and if the suit is dark, should I wear black tied-up shoes?
Answer:
Since it is formal and it will be held in the hot months in Austin, I would advice going for worsted or merino wool suits. It is more airy and allows breathing through the fabric to give me a cooler feel.
You can opt for single-breasted two-button charcoal or navy suits for this formal evening wedding event.
There is also a choice of patterns on the suits to spice up the overall look: chalk-stripes, pin-stripes, or windowpane. Besides all these combinations, having a good mens suits fit is important as well.
The choice of tie should be based on the color of the dress shirt you are wearing with. Since you are not asking, I would assume you are choosing white shirt.
Things would be a lot easier since you are going to match it mainly to the tie. Both charcoal and navy suits are also simple to coordinate. I would recommend that you choose solid colored silk ties to achieve formality.
As for the color choice, you might want to consider ties in dark blue or medium blue for navy suits. Ties in black, burgundy, silvery gray would be suitable for charcoal suits.
