Double Breasted Suits
for Dressy Evenings

Question:

Do dark brown pants go with a black shirt with camel brown shoes? If I am wearing light brown pants with a white long sleeve shirt, do I wear black or brown shoes?

Answer:

A double breasted suit can look much more formal than a single breasted suit. Therefore wearing it during a dressy evening event is suitable and appropriate.

I would advice that you keep your double breasted suit fitted to make the look smart and sharp. I have attached pictures below from The Sartorialist to give you example of good fit vs. loose fit. We often find men wearing the double-breasted suit a bit too wide and fail to present the sharpness of the suit as well as the wearer.

My personal opinion is the man in the pinstripe double breasted suit looks a lot sharper because it is well-fitted and brings out the style of the suit as well as the man himself.
