Question:
I have a question about suits, I have trouble with suits that fit comfortably. I am 5'10" 250lbs I am not overwieght and not a body builder at all accounts look similar to a silver back gorrilla. 52" chest 38" waist I have suits tailored to fit but they rarely fit comfortablly. I end up with a suit that I look fat in or look nice but I have to stand as a statue or I feel I will tear out of the jacket. I see profesional athletes "NFL" wearing very fashionable suits that seem to fit and move well but I havent the coin to purchase what they are able to. I work in an executive office were appearance is key for presentations. can I look good for under a grand a suit? what styles/designs should I be looking for? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Answer:
Since you have already tried tailoring your suit and you still feel that your suit is fitted uncomfortably, then there is something wrong during the process when you try on your suit. Before the finalization of your suit, there should be a few tries where you will wear the "skeleton" of the suit to ensure that all parts of the suit fits your body comfortably and to your satisfaction. If not, then the "skeleton" suit has to be constantly corrected until it fits your body requirement or your preference which is the whole reason behind bespoke.
Do not hesitate to make known any dissatisfaction about the fit to your tailor during each try. They know what is best to give you what you want. However, once you finalize the suit's fit there is no way to make anymore changes. One way to control the cost of your suit is focusing on the fabric you choose. Some fabrics like merino wool, virgin wool, or high grade super 150's worsted wool can really push up the cost of your bespoke suit.
