Fashion Advice 44 Fall 2007 Colors and Jeans in Style
Question:
In Italy, the fashion colors for autumn are purple, black, grey, brown, and some green. I was wondering if jeans are still in style and what kind, if not what is?
Answer:
You're correct to say that purple, brown, black, gray and green are this season's autumnal color. Given that you're asking about jeans, I'd assume you'd like to know if jeans are still 'in' this season and if they go with this season's color?
Jeans will always be a staple in a man's wardrobe. With the current trend for the tailored look, 'it' designers are showing jeans in slim silhouette with either tapered or bootleg cut and low slung waist. Color range from pristine white to unwashed ink blue. While some jeans still have the worn look worked into its design, the torn and tattered look is no where in sight (as is the case for the past few seasons). This sits well with the snug, fitted shirts, waistcosts and jackets which are all over the runways.
Unless your build is trim and lean, this cut is not suitable for all body types. Thus, if you're shopping for a new pair of jeans, go with a cut which flatters your build and your style. I'm of the belief that one's sartorial sense should not be dictated by faddish fashion. I'd also recommend unwashed, classic deep blue jeans which goes well with most color, including next season's.
