Are double-breasted overcoat out of style?

Question:

I am 65 years old and have a double breasted black leather overcoat that I like very much. My daughter says that it is hopelessly out of style for Manhattan and that it makes a poor impression for either business or after hours wear. Is she correct?

Answer:

I do not see any problem actually wearing a double breasted overcoat. There is some fashion clothing that gives you a permanent classic styling like double breasted suits and double breasted overcoat.

If you want to be consistently in-fashion, then slim-fitted 2-button single breasted suits are the in-thing with tapered suit pants.

However, not everyone is suitable to wear it maybe due to their body shape, age, or even simply their liking. And not everyone is willing to be a fashion slave.

Should you be interested to look more fashionable, then try going for a single-breasted overcoat with a slimmer cut.
