Cropped Pants Spring Summer 2011
Last year we saw many men wearing their pants either tucked into their footwear or rolled up to expose socks and bare ankles. For 2011 designers responded to that style trend by churning out a selection of cropped pants for the style-conscious man. Jackets and slacks look more chic with a pair of fitted cropped pants. Omit the socks for classic styles, or for a more rock-n-roll look wear them with boots and socks. Below (L to R): Ermenegildo Zegna, Junya Watanabe, and Paul Smith.

Even suits are being made with cropped pants. However, most men won't want to wear these to a conservative office or formal business meeting. If your job encourages a less traditional, more creative environment, then you can pull this off. Below (L to R): Lanvin, Yohji Yamamoto, and Dunhill.

Some designers took the cropping so far as to render the pants almost like capris for men! This will be unusual for most male wardrobes, but it's a decent look. Try styles like those below by Dolce & Gabbana, Miharayasuhiro, or Emporio Armani. Otherwise, experiment by cutting a pair of old jeans or chinos.
